Have you been craving more creativity in your life—and people to explore it with?
You’re invited to join Inhalation: a creative book club in Los Angeles for people who are ready to reconnect with their creativity—and find their people while doing it. 🌴
Every month, we read books that spark introspection and creative expansion, then meet up IRL to engage in interactive activities, and connect with like-hearted people who just get it.
Our gatherings are a playground for your inner child. Come ready to play, reflect, and leave inspired. Oh, and there are always good snacks. 🍪
As an official CreativeMornings Club, Inhalation is free! No “creative” experience required (because spoiler alert: you are already creative). If you have an open heart, an open mind, and a spirit of play, then you are welcome here.
April book pick
The Book of Alchemy
What if your life—all of it, the luminous parts and the difficult ones—was actually the raw material for your most creative work? Written as a collection of personal essays, each ending with a journal prompt, Suleika Jaouad draws on her own extraordinary journey through illness, heartbreak, and transformation to show us that creativity isn't something you access when conditions are perfect. It's something you practice in the middle of real life, especially when real life is hard.
This book is unlike anything else on our reading list. Equal parts memoir, manual, and mirror, it will make you want to pick up a pen and ask yourself: what's waiting to be transformed in you? 🪄

Club notes 💌
“It was REALLY great! I’ve been a part of different book clubs and I really appreciated how much thought was put into the gathering, the questions to get the conversation going, and Krystie’s facilitation to make sure everyone participated and felt heard.”
“Loved the organization. The questions were a great way to start so that we could get to know each other a bit. Ending with the journaling was a great way to leave with something to focus on for the next few weeks.”
“I enjoyed the multifaceted components: discussing the book, taking a little body break and then a creative piece tying it all together.”
Let’s get on the same page
-
This is hosted by CreativeMornings, so you need to create a free CreativeMornings account, then sign up for Inhalation on the Clubs page. I release “tickets” about 2 months in advance. It’s limited to 20 people (first come, first served), but the group size is usually around 5-6 people.
-
We typically meet after lunch (so either 1-3 pm or 3-5pm) on the 2nd Sunday of the month in Northeast LA (usually Highland Park). Check the CreativeMornings Club sign up page for the most accurate date and time.
-
Nope! But, since this is a community-centered book club, you’ll get more out of it if you come regularly. If you have to miss a few due to life, don’t sweat it. Just join when you can!
-
It happens to the best of us, but yes! Please join us anyway. The discussion and activities are designed to tap into the major themes of the book, and since we’re reading books on creativity, there’s a high chance you’ll still be able to participate even if you didn’t finish the book.
-
Not at all! This is meant to be a low pressure, low stakes book club. You are welcome to join the book club even if you missed previous gatherings. Just RSVP for the next one (or whichever one you can make), and we’ll see you there.
-
Yes! Inhalation is part of the CreativeMornings ecosystem of events, which means that it will always be free and community-powered. All you have to do is sign up and commit to showing up (or communicating if you CAN’T make it).
Support your local bookstore or library!
With this much advanced notice, hopefully you can find ways to get the book on time, whether that’s from the library (I ❤️ the Libby app), a friend, or a local bookstore. If you have the means and want to support indie bookstores, you can find all of the books for the year on my Bookshop.org page. Bookshop.org donates up to 30% of every purchase to indie bookstores. As an affiliate, I get a small cut as well (at no extra cost to you).

Just discovering Inhalation? Welcome! You’re right on time. There’s no catching up to do. RSVP for the next gathering and we’ll see you there.
